Your focus data belongs to you.
This policy covers the direct Android release and the preserved Google Play release. The short version: your focus routine and app usage stay on your device.
Challenge progress, selected apps, schedules, and settings.
Screen contents, messages, typed text, URLs, contacts, photos, microphone, or location.
Focus settings and usage summaries are not uploaded by Rewire.
01
What stays on your device
Rewire stores your onboarding choice, 30-day challenge start date, daily action completion, preference settings, the package identifiers of apps you choose as focus targets, your focus schedule, whether interventions and gentle prompts are enabled, and temporary ten-minute bypass times.
When you use Usage Access, Rewire processes selected targets’ foreground time, opens, and daily totals in the app to display a summary. It does not persist those summaries. When you choose a target, Rewire also reads installed launchable-app labels in memory to display the selection list and name an app in the pause overlay; it does not persist that list.
02
Android permissions and special access
Usage Access
Usage Access is optional. If you grant it in Android Settings, Rewire reads system usage events only to calculate local summaries for the apps you chose. You can revoke it at any time in Android Settings.
Intentional-pause service
The optional AccessibilityService observes window-change events to identify when a selected app opens during your chosen focus window. It uses the app’s package name and may resolve its app label to show a full-screen, 10-second intentional-pause overlay.
The service is configured not to retrieve window content. It does not read, type, tap, transmit, or alter content in other apps. You can turn interventions off in Rewire or disable the service in Android Accessibility Settings.
Notifications
Notifications are optional. On Android 13 and later, Rewire asks for notification permission only when you enable gentle prompts. If allowed, it sends one local reminder when your focus window begins. You can disable the prompt in Rewire or revoke permission in Android Settings.

Purchases
The direct build (com.rewire.focus.direct) requests a Lemon Squeezy hosted checkout through DolfinMind’s payment service for an optional one-time Rewire Pro license. Lemon Squeezy is the merchant of record and processes the email address, payment, tax, order, receipt, and license information needed for that purchase. Rewire and the payment service never receive payment-card details.
The direct build creates a random installation identifier unrelated to Android hardware or advertising identifiers. Checkout, activation, validation, and deactivation send that value to the payment service; it stores only an HMAC-pseudonymized value, mapped Lemon order/license identifiers, entitlement status, timestamps, and an HMAC fingerprint—not the full license key. The entered key passes to Lemon’s License API over HTTPS, while the full key and returned instance identifier stay in Android’s private app storage. Standard server security logs may process network metadata such as an IP-address hash; payment request bodies and license keys are not logged by the payment module.
The preserved Play build (com.rewire.focus) uses Google Play Billing through RevenueCat to show plans, process or restore purchases, and determine whether the rewire_pro entitlement is active. Google Play and RevenueCat process purchase status, product and transaction-related identifiers, and an anonymous RevenueCat App User ID required for those functions.
Neither purchase path receives Rewire’s local focus settings, selected-app data, or Usage Access summaries.

Data deletion and your choices
Use Delete my data in Rewire to clear all Rewire preferences and local focus data, including selected targets, schedules, and bypass settings. Rewire does not persist the usage summaries it displays, and this control does not delete Android’s underlying system usage history. Uninstalling the app also removes its local app data.
Neither action cancels a Google Play subscription; manage subscriptions in Google Play. In the direct build, Delete my data also removes the locally stored Lemon Squeezy license and makes a best-effort request to deactivate that device instance. It does not cancel, refund, or delete the Lemon Squeezy order.
Purchase and entitlement records held by the DolfinMind payment service, Lemon Squeezy, Google Play, or RevenueCat are not deleted by Rewire’s local deletion control because financial and security records may need to be retained. Direct buyers can use Lemon Squeezy’s My Orders page or the support contact on their receipt. Play buyers can use the developer support email in the Google Play listing.
